Some questions that bachelor students ask themselves when faced with the choice of a master's degree, and master's students when faced with the possibilities after graduation...

(*) from the ‘Anthropologists, and after’ evening meeting on 28 April 2017

  • Does the 60 ECTS “Sociology and Anthropology” Master's degree offer exactly the same diploma and therefore the same job opportunities as research focus Master's degree?

No, this Master's degree does not offer direct access to a doctorate. It will also be a source of differentiation in the pay scale in public sector employment.
  • Is it possible to obtain a position in a university other than that of researcher in Anthropology with a Master's degree in Anthropology (research focus)?

Yes, in the administration, in documentation resource centres, for example.
  • Is the Master's degree Anthropology (research focus) equivalent/valid abroad? In Europe and outside Europe? Is it possible to teach courses in anthropology, social sciences, etc. abroad with this degree?

The diploma is recognised as equivalent in all EU countries for all types of employment. Outside Europe, please contact the Diplomas Unit for information on equivalence.
  • Is it recommended to do another Master after the Master in Anthropology?

Yes and no, depending on whether you feel ready to take on something other than your studies. However, the Master's degree in Anthropology is perfectly sufficient for entering the job market.

  • After a Master in Anthropology, is it possible to work in the field of sociology? As a researcher, for example, would it be possible to do research in sociology?

    Yes
Among the virtues of training in anthropology is its versatility: an anthropologist can work in any sector: social, industrial, public, private, political, non-governmental, etc. The positions held are also varied.
